PIMAC Project

The PIMAC project aims to develop and validate a digital platform for the contextualised assessment of nursing competencies, based on a previously validated competency framework in which EUIT Centre Universitari participates alongside the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa, the Consorci Sanitari Integral, the Institut Català d’Oncologia, and the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu, with TCPGrup as the technological partner.

Current competency assessment systems available in healthcare settings are fragmented, insufficiently systematic, and heavily reliant on manual processes, which limits their usefulness for professional development, strategic workforce planning, and quality of care improvement. PIMAC builds on a matrix-based nursing competency assessment model, constructed through a rigorous process involving experts and professionals, and aligned with international reference frameworks.

The project seeks to embed this model into a digital environment enabling structured, repeatable, and contextualised assessment according to professional role — whether clinical, managerial, educational, or research-focused. The research is situated in a context of nursing talent deficit and unequal distribution, and responds to the need for ethical, equitable, and non-punitive tools that promote professional empowerment and continuous improvement. The expected results hold potential scientific, clinical, and institutional impact, as well as transferability to other professional contexts.
