EUIT Difon

The EUIT Difon project, led by SUTO in collaboration with the EUIT Research Support Unit, was created with the aim of improving science communication within the Campus Urbà Terrassa Universitària, bringing academic research closer to the public through an innovative and accessible medium: the podcast. This initiative offers a space for the scientific knowledge generated at EUIT and other universities within the Campus Urbà Terrassa Universitària to be shared in an engaging, approachable and rigorous format.

With the support of faculty and a specialised teaching team, the project is led by students from the Nursing and Occupational Therapy degrees, who are responsible for creating the podcast content — from scripting and interviews through to recording and final dissemination.

The project places particular emphasis on the holistic training of future health professionals, strengthening their competencies in science communication, interdisciplinary collaboration and critical thinking. Students participate actively through the Foundations of Scientific Methodology in Health Sciences courses offered in both degree programmes. This participation not only brings them into direct contact with research being carried out in the city of Terrassa, but also enables them to develop essential skills for conveying scientific knowledge in a clear and reliable way, while fostering active learning and social engagement.

With a long-term vision, EUIT Difon aims to establish itself as a regular activity within the campus, building a stable structure for collaborative work between students, faculty and research staff.

The project also opens the door to future collaborations with other academic institutions and local media outlets, broadening the reach of science communication and reinforcing the university’s role as an agent of change. In this way, EUIT Difon responds to a dual mission: on the one hand, highlighting the research generated at the Campus Urbà Terrassa Universitària; and on the other, empowering EUIT students to become effective communicators of knowledge, actively contributing to a more informed, critical and engaged society.
